Electronic Filing Appearance system (EFAS)

What is EFAS?

EFAS utilises the Magistrates' Court website court lists to allow practitioners to enter appearances and request adjournments. This system encourages all practitioners to file their appearances electronically prior to the hearing date thereby providing a more accessible and efficient means to coordinate daily lists and utilise staggered listings. The appearance system has been developed to enhance the Court's ability to best manage the increasing demands on judicial resources and will work in conjunction with the current staggered listings protocol. It is a modernisation of lodging appearances instead of legal practitioners joining lengthy queues to enter their appearance at Court. The system creates enormous efficiencies for Court Users as well as the Court.
