After hours bail court continues operations this weekend
Update: 2 February 2017
The after hours bail court will continue operations this weekend at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court (4 & 5 February 2017). A magistrate will be sitting on Saturday and Sunday night from 5pm until 9pm.
The after hours bail court will sit as a Magistrates’ Court dealing with bail and remand matters only. It will not hear Children’s Court matters.
Registry service will be available to strictly service the matters before the court. All other general enquiries will be considered during normal business hours.
The after hours court will accept remands from 3.00pm until 8.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Matters after that time are to be remanded to the appropriate Magistrates’ Court on the next day.
Procedures for after hours remands on weekdays and in regional areas remain unchanged until further notice.
The Weekend Court will continue to operate as normal and accepts remands from 9am - 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Remands received between 3pm - 8.30pm will only be able to access the after hours bail court.
