After hours bail/remand court commences operations 7 days a week tonight

 

The after hours bail/remand court will commence operating on weeknights at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court from 6 February 2017. A magistrate will be sitting in the after hours bail/remand court seven days a week from 5pm until 9pm

The after hours bail/remand court will sit as a Magistrates’ Court dealing with bail and remand matters from the Melbourne metropolitan area. It will not hear Children’s Court matters. 

Procedures for after hours bail/remand hearings in regional areas remain unchanged until further notice. 

Registry services will be available while the after hours bail/remand court operates to strictly service the matters before that court. All other general enquiries will be considered during normal business hours.

The Weekend Court will continue to operate on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am until 4pm and will accept remands from 9am - 3pm.

Matters received after the relevant cut-off time (see below) may be remanded to the appropriate Magistrates’ Court on the next day.

  • Court sits between 5pm – 9pm
  • Remand filing cut-off time: 8.30pm

Sat – Sun

  • Court sits between 5pm – 9pm
  • Remand filing cut-off time: 8.30pm

Weekend Court

Sat – Sun

  • Court sits between 10am  – 4pm
  • Remand filing cut-off time: 3pm
