| A: | The Magistrates’ Court has limited jurisdiction in relation to Family Law matters. If you wish to obtain a passport for your child and you are unable to locate the other parent, you will need to make an application to the Federal Magistrates’ Court or the Family Court. |
| Q: | What do I have to do to change my child's name? |
| A: | If you wish to change your child’s name you need to contact the Federal Magistrates’ Court. The Federal Magistrates’ Court sits in Dandenong, Bendigo, Geelong, Melbourne, Morwell, Shepparton and Warrnambool. |
| Q: | Where can I obtain a divorce kit? |
| A: | Divorce kits are available from the Family Court of Australia or the Federal Magistrates' Court. |
| Q: | Where do I get orders for child contact and residence? |
| A: | The Family Court of Australia makes all orders in relation to application for child contact and residence. |
